Take our affordable housing, please!
A Florida city’s efforts to pay other cities to fulfill its affordable-housing obligation is being challenged in federal district court. See previous post here.But in Illinois, the state legislature unanimously passed a bill allowing cities to work together to build affordable housing.
Reaction to the “buddy system” is mixed. Some fear that wealthy communities will simply buy their way out, dumping their obligations on less-affluent towns. Others point out that regional cooperation has been used to meet other goals, such as wetlands preservation.

Reminds me of growing up in the segregated South. The white folks lived in the "city" where the streets were paved - when the pavement ran out, you were in the black folks' "city."
