"Targeted because they were homeless"

Leesburg police said it's one of the most savage beatings they've ever seen. Two homeless men were attacked inside an abandoned home and left for dead.

An officer found one of the men bloodied and crawling out of a roadside ditch trying to signal for help at about 11 p.m. Police heard the other man calling for help from a nearby parking lot.

"They didn't take anything from the men, so we ruled out robbery. From all we can tell now, these men were targeted because they were homeless," said Lt. Rob Hicks. ""It was a senseless act of violence and one of the more disturbing ones I've seen in Leesburg."
