Three student attorneys and I went to the courthouse to file a lawsuit against a landlord who had turned off our client’s electricity. That’s illegal in Florida; read the statute here.The filing fee when tenant sues landlord is $255. But when landlord sues tenant for eviction, the filing fee is only $80.
How is this fair? How is this equal access to justice?
