A no-win situation
I hadn't seen Ronnie for a while, but I ran into him at the bus stop by the courthouse.Ronnie lives on the street, but he's always cleaned up and dressed neatly (with a little hip hop flavor). I think he washes and shaves at the bus station. He smelled good, too, with some kind of cologne.
But he was a little bit down. He makes the effort to keep himself cleaned up 'cause he feels better about himself that way. "But when I panhandle," he told me, "people say, 'You can't be homeless. You're too clean!'"
