Miami considers banning
all panhandling in some areas

All panhandling may be restricted in some areas of downtown Miami, if the Downtown Development Authority has its way.

The only disagreement among the board members is exactly where panhandling should be banned. But their real problem seems to be that Miami's laws against aggressive panhandling are not being enforced. So why not push for stricter enforcement of the laws already on the books?

Perhaps the loudest voice in favor of banning panhandling all over downtown comes from board member Jose Goyanes, who complained that patrons at his downtown restaurant, La Loggia, had been accosted.
