Homeless woman dies in jail cell
With 63 arrests since 2004 and at least 16 convictions, all for misdemeanors or violations of city ordinances related to public intoxication or trespassing, Sunny Swanson was well known to police.
Around campfires deep in the woods, sometimes with a drinking buddy her friends called "The Shadow," Sunny Swanson talked about her dream -- getting off the booze and finding an apartment.
But that dream ended when the 38-year-old homeless woman was declared dead by an emergency room physician at St. Elizabeth's Hospital after passing out in a cell in the city jail in Belleville, Ilinois. An autopsy was inconclusive but foul play is not suspected.

SUNNY MAY OF HAD SOME PROBLEMS BUT SHE DID NOT DESERVE TO DIE THE WAY SHE DID. SUNNY WAS A GREAT PERSON TO BE AROUND SHE MAY OF MADE SOME MISTAKES BUT SHE DESEVED TO BE TREATED JUST LIKE EVERBODY ELSE SHE NEEDE MEDICAL TREATMENT AND SHE DID NOT GET IT. HOW FAIR WAS THAT? BUT YOU LET A HERION USER ALMOST KILL PEOPLE AND STILL HAVE THE NEEDLE IN HIS ARM HE WALKS AWAY.
