"Simply put, this is nuts"

Concerned that too much public information would be restricted, Florida lawmakers have postponed a vote on a bill that would limit the availability of e-mail addresses used by government officials.

Senate Bill 1448 originally required all e-mail addresses be removed from government records before being released to the public.

That brought a sharp rebuke from public records advocate Barbara Peterson, president of the First Amendment Foundation in Tallahassee. "Simply put, this is nuts," she said in an e-mail earlier this week.
