Trial postponed for 10-year-olds
accused in homeless beating

The trial for two 10-year-olds accused of beating and stoning a homeless man has been postponed until next month.

The defense attorney for one of the boys told the judge that she needs more time so experts can evaluate whether the boy is competent to stand trial. The boy will remain in custody at a juvenile detention center until the May 9 trial.

Both boys have been charged with aggravated battery for the March 27 attack on John D'Amico. A third boy arrested in the attack, 17-year-old Jeremy Woods, will face a separate trial in adult court.
