Most public school students
in Florida are poor

Florida, with 62% of all public school students below the poverty line, has the third-highest rate in the nation.

Only Mississippi and Louisiana had more poor children in public schools.

It's the first time in more than 40 years that the majority of children in public schools in the South are poor, says a report from the Southern Education Foundation.
