West Palm Beach is dropping its ban
City commissioners have agree to throw out a roughly 14-month-old law that makes it illegal to hand out free food at two locations in downtown West Palm Beach.

The action will become official when the commission formally wipes the law off the books at hearings on Dec. 15 and Jan. 12.
As part of the settlement, the city also agreed to pay $100,000 in attorney fees.
After a federal judge threw out a similar Orlando law in September, ruling it was an unconstitutional violation of free speech. Attorneys for the City of West Palm Beach predicted the law here would suffer a similar fate.
