Getting homeless man off streets is no easy task
A newspaper columnist thought he had helped get a homeless man off the streets. Then he saw him again, trudging along a sidewalk.Mark Howard, a 59-year-old who once held down a six-figure salary as a digital design weapons systems engineer before his life unraveled 16 years ago, got some help -- a shower, a haircut and clothes -- but he just didn't want to stay at a board-and-care facility.
