Who really benefits?

The new blog Florida Public Policy has begun a conversation between Florida progressives interested in public policy at the neglected local and state level.

One of its first posts takes a look beneath the recent job-creation rankings and seeing who exactly is benefiting.

Seven of Florida's metropolitan areas made the top 13 of the country's 200 largest metropolitan areas for job creation in 2005.

Florida Public Policy concludes that wealthy land developers and employers are benefitting instead of the communities -- because a lot of these new jobs must be filled by folks coming from other places. Why? Because our educational system just isn't getting the job done.

Check out the blog here.

See the job-creation rankings here. And read the report here.
