Bumfights inspires
Australian homeless killing

An Australian teenager on trial for killing a homeless man while being filmed by his friends has told a courtroom he was inspired by American stunt shows.

Arthur Burrows, 66, died three years ago when his highly flammable humpy* was engulfed in flames after the boys filmed themselves taunting him and leaving a piece of carpet alight in his shack.

He said they were inspired by the "Bumfights" series, which shows homeless people tormented for the camera, as well as the stunt film "Jackass."

Last month, a Florida teenager says he watched the "Bumfights" videos hundreds of times before he and four other teens punched, kicked, and stomped a homeles man to death near Holly Hill last year see previous post here.

The trial is continuing.

"Humpy" is Australian slang for a rough bush shelter or makeshift shelter.
