Florida ranks first in ....

Ever wondered which state would be biggest if they were all ironed out flat? Has the most binge drinkers? Well, check out State Master, a statistical database which lets you to compare the states in dozens of categories. But be warned, you can spend hours messin' around with this stuff. (I did.)

Florida ranks first in:
■ Percent of renter-occupied units who spend 30% or more of their household income on rent and utilities. In Florida, 50.5% of renters are in that category; the national average is 41.5 %. See the rankings here.
Florida ranks last in:
■ Per capita instructional expenditures for public elementary and secondary education. Florida spends $540.57 per state resident; top-ranked New York spends $1,231.99. See the rankings here.
And there’s fun stuff, too:
■ Florida ranks 18th in the number of roller coasters per capita, with 2.08 roller coasters per million people. See the rankings here.
Maybe it's because I live in Orlando, but I would have thought Florida had a lot more roller coasters.

And while you're at it, check out Nation Master, where you can compare countries.

I am going to check out the National Master. Where does Florida rank as far as corrupt politicans? I can understand Crist being elected. But, Tom Feeney? Come on, he is one of the most corrupt politicans. He takes money from Abramoff and goes to Scotland on Abramoff's dime and gets re-elected! Bob Ney takes money from Abramoff and gets indicted. Let's work to get rid of Feeney.
