The backlash reaches St. Augustine
Triggered by St. Augustine's new panhandling ordinance, a group of local citizens has come together to help the homeless.The group is grappling with getting a handle on what is already available and how they can work with the organizations providing services. The group is also looking for a way to put a "face "on the homeless, to make them "real" to the rest of the community.

So here's another case of government action against the homeless prompting folks to step up and try to provide some real help. It's happening in Fort Myers, too. I know it's happening in Orlando; just yesterday, I met with some other concerned activists to make plans about what we'll do next.
