Those who cannot learn from history
are doomed to repeat it

And I have to admit I'd forgotten.

But Pastor Alan reminded me.

He pointed out that the City of Orlando is named after a man who died fighting people whom the powers-that-were decided to force into homelessness.

Not far from where the food-sharing with the homeless
takes place, stands a monument to Orlando Reeves,
a soldier who died near Lake Eola, fighting
the Indians who were being driven from their homeland
during the Second Seminole War.

History isn't clear on where the name Orlando
originated, but the Orlando Reeves story
is the most common.
