Budget cuts delayed:
Your calls made a difference!

Last week, thousands of people called Congress to put the brakes on cuts to food stamps, Medicaid and other critical services. See previous post here.

Senate leadership has announced they will put off those cuts until late October. The House is expected to delay as well.

But merely delaying the cuts is not good enough, says the Coalition on Human Needs. Right now, state and federal agencies are struggling to meet the most basic needs of the hurricane victims with housing, health care and food assistance. Cutting programs that provide food, health care, income and disability assistance should be out of the question.

Stay tuned for more actions in September and October.
